I have been involved in women’s health since 1994 at Women and Health in Camden, with emphasis on stress-related and painful conditions.

I have been surprised over the years at how easily pregnant women often respond to treatment – a little goes a long way.

As a doula with Doula UK, acupuncture, shiatsu and acupressure are part of my tool-bag available to support a woman in labour. But the woman herself guides any intervention (or non-intervention) by her own instinctive feeling for what she wants or needs. Of primary concern are feelings of safety and privacy during labour.

My interest in acupuncture grew out of many years’ experience as a shiatsu practitioner. Palpation and touch remain at the heart of the physical business of balancing energy with acupuncture. Treatment choices, whatever the modality, are guided by the particular presenting condition and by the particular woman.
